Continuing from Part 1

Let's take a look at your accommodation website... is it effectively pulling in visitors, keeping them around and converting them to bookings?

Below are the second set of important check points your website should have - does your website offer ALL of these?

5. Responsive Design

This refers to your website’s capability to adjust its size and appearance depending on what size screen it’s on. Your website is not going to look exactly the same on a mobile device as it does on your desktop. What makes for a good user experience on a desktop may be too difficult to incorporate into a mobile website design. A responsive design varies between the different devices to make it more aesthetically pleasing to the user, depending on how they are accessing the website. If you tried to fit the three columns on the desktop version on to the mobile device version, it would be too small to read or click on and you would be forced to zoom in and out and scroll left and right; therefore, you have to separate the content differently.

6. Easy Navigation

A user should be able to visit your website for the first time and be able to easily find everything they need. Your navigation should be visible from every page, your pages should be separated logically and the navigation should be intuitive. If a user cannot find what they’re looking for on your website easily, they are more likely to leave for another website that is easier to use.

7. A Blog

Quite simply your website should have a blog. A blog is an interesting and less formal area which allows you to show off your accommodation and local area, thereby increasing the likelihood of a new visitor wanting to stay. Additionally, it is a good way for people who have already stayed at your accommodation to see what's going on and perhaps tempt them into a another visit.

SAVE ON WORK: The content created for your blog can also be used as social media posts to assist you in promoting your property online.

8. Call to action

The main purpose of your own website is to convince each visitor to book a stay with you. However, whilst having well worded information and beautiful images on your accommodation is essential to persuade potential guests, you also need a call to action.

A call to action is a set of words, button or form that encourages immediate action. Sometimes users just need that extra push to make an enquiry, and that is the purpose of a call to action - it generates leads and helps you get a step closer to a booking!
